CD Duplication

CD duplication involves burning standard or special shape CD-R with a laser in a standard CD writer drive. The 'R' after the format type stands for 'Recordable' (As opposed to replicated discs which are referred to as CD-ROM where the 'ROM' stands for 'Read-Only Memory' as these discs cannot be burnt at all and are pressed at the time of manufacture).

CD duplication at DUB hub uses robotic CD duplicators that can process large numbers of CDs of all sizes quickly and efficiently. This type of production is ideal for smaller print runs of less than 2000 discs, or where the discs are required very quickly. These discs are typically applied with photo-glossy labels that have been printed in a very high quality laser printer. The laser print process is smudge-proof and allows full color printing that is suitable for photographs or complex color gradients.

Another advantage of duplicated CDs is that we can supply them printed, but blank, for you to burn your own content onto in a standard CD-RW drive. This is often useful if you are sending out individual client files, or if the information that you need to put on the discs is constantly changing.

The other main type of CD and DVD production is referred to as CD replication and DVD replication and involves pressing the discs from a glass master. This process is used for higher volume discs, resulting in much lower unit costs for larger orders of 1000 discs or more.

Advantages
  • Ideal for print runs of less than 1000 CDs
  • Full color printing
  • Quick turnaround times (as little as 24-48 hours)
  • Discs can be blank for you to burn your own content onto

Disadvantage
  • Higher production costs for production runs of over 1000 discs when compared to replicated CDs

CD Encoding

Because the laser is tracking the spiral of data using the bumps, there cannot be extended gaps where there are no bumps in the data track. To solve this problem, data is encoded...

CD Replication

CD replication stamps an exact replica or clone of your CD. Customers typically go with CD replication for higher volume projects (1,000 CDs or more), as CD replication costs...
